1. Who we are
"We," "us," and "our" refer to the operators of MortgagePaymentCalc.ca (the "Site"), an independent Canadian web application built in Vancouver, BC. For privacy questions, contact us via our contact page.
2. What we collect
Calculator inputs. The numbers you type into the calculator stay in your browser. They are encoded in your URL (so you can bookmark or share them) but are not stored on our servers unless you explicitly use the share feature.
Contact form submissions. If you contact us via the contact form, we receive your name, email address, and message through our forms provider, Formspree. We use this information only to reply to your message.
Server logs. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, records standard request metadata — IP address, user agent, request path — for security and abuse prevention. We do not link this data to individual users.
What we do not collect. We do not require accounts. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, SIN, income, or any financial details to use the calculator.
3. Cookies
We use a minimal number of strictly necessary cookies — for example, to remember your preferred display theme (light or dark). We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or any cookies that track you across websites.
If we enable Google Analytics in the future, we will update this policy and use anonymized IP addresses. We will not use analytics for advertising purposes.
4. No advertising, no lender referrals
MortgagePaymentCalc.ca does not display advertising and is not a lead-generation tool for any lender, mortgage broker, or financial institution. We do not receive referral fees. The calculator results are not influenced by commercial relationships.
The site is supported by voluntary contributions via Buy Me a Coffee. This service does not receive your calculator data.
5. Third-party services
Cloudflare (hosting and CDN) — processes request metadata per their privacy policy.
Formspree (contact form) — receives contact form submissions per their privacy policy. Formspree does not receive your calculator inputs.
6. How we use information
We use the limited information described above only to:
- Operate and maintain the Site
- Reply to messages you send us
- Detect and prevent abuse
- Understand aggregate traffic patterns to improve the calculator
We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information to third parties, ever.
7. Your rights under PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25
If you are in Canada, you have the right under PIPEDA to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. Quebec residents have additional rights under Law 25. Contact us through the contact page to make a request. Because we collect almost nothing, most requests will be straightforward.
8. Security and changes
We use standard industry safeguards (HTTPS via Cloudflare, modern infrastructure) to protect the limited data we hold. We may update this policy occasionally; the updated date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision.
